How each one plans projects and people
Monograph builds each project around phases, fees, and deliverables. MoneyGantt shows planned, logged, invoiced, and paid amounts by phase, and linked phases move together when the schedule shifts. Its staffing views show availability and utilization across the firm, with AI staffing recommendations based on each person's project experience and capacity, and capacity planning helps you decide when to hire or take on more work.
Projectworks plans by discipline as well as by person. Its engineering page describes seeing utilization for civil, structural, mechanical, and environmental staff across active and upcoming projects, matching people to projects by skills and certifications, and forecasting months ahead, with leave and training feeding the resource plan. Projectworks describes Kea, its assistant in beta or early access, as aimed at the same work, such as moving a resource plan when a client delays a project.
If your hardest problem is sharing specialists across many concurrent projects, spend most of the Projectworks demo on resourcing. If you plan around phases and consultant fees, see how Monograph's phase plans and MoneyGantt handle one of your current projects.
Billing, consultants, and getting paid
Monograph invoices fixed fees, hourly work, consultants, expenses, retainers, and percent complete, and it can draft a batch of invoices at once. Consultant budgets, bills, and payments are tracked by phase, and you can pay consultants from Monograph. Clients can pay online by card or ACH through Stripe, and for firms using those payments, the AR Assistant follows up on late invoices by email and phone.
Projectworks bills by milestone, percent complete, or hourly from tracked time and expenses, and its engineering page points out that engineering projects often mix those methods. Purchase orders and revenue recognition come with the Unleash plan, and its reports show margin and WIP by project, discipline, and milestone.
Connecting your accounting system
Both connect to a separate accounting system for the books. Monograph works with QuickBooks Online for US firms, from Simple Start through Advanced and Intuit Enterprise Suite. Invoices, consultant bills, and expenses go from Monograph to QuickBooks, and project, labor, consultant, and operating costs come back for its profit reports. Paid status updates in both systems on QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced. Its QuickBooks FAQ says invoices already in QuickBooks don't import, so past billing goes in as a total on each project.
Projectworks syncs invoices with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or MYOB. With QuickBooks, invoices, reimbursable expenses, and purchase orders export from Projectworks, and payment information comes back. The Unleash plan adds Sage Intacct, multi-entity setups that connect several accounting instances to one Projectworks account, and the Projectworks API.
Assistants, AI features, and outside AI tools
Monograph's AI is built into specific jobs. Its Smart Inbox gives the firm one forwarding address. Team members forward mail from their registered email, and AI pulls bills, expenses, deliverables, notes, files, and contacts out of the message and its attachments for someone to review before anything is added. Smart Time suggests timesheet entries from your calendar and desktop activity, the AI Budget Builder drafts budgets from contracts, and AI Budget Risk Ranking points to the projects that need attention.
Projectworks announced on August 11, 2026 that its Kea assistant, AI proposals, and MCP server were in beta or early access, with customers already using them and wider access opening through the year. Projectworks describes Kea as helping with back-office work such as finding the best-fit person for a project, with your approval and within your permissions. The MCP server lets Claude or ChatGPT search, query, analyze, and update Projectworks data. Its examples include updating a resource plan from meeting notes and drafting timesheets from a connected task tool.
Ask Monograph which outside tools it connects to. If you want Claude or ChatGPT working on your project data in Projectworks, ask whether your account can join the MCP beta.

Where Kineo fits
Kineo publishes this page. This section describes what Kineo does, for engineering and architecture firms whose needs match it.
Kineo's assistant and automations work on project email, contracts, and invoices
Kineo is built for engineering and architecture firms that keep QuickBooks Online as their ledger. Its assistant, your automations, and Claude or ChatGPT work on the same project records.
Say a client emails a project's own address asking for extra work. When someone on your team imports the message, Kineo reads it and its attachments, and an automation you described in plain language drafts the change order and creates a task for the project manager to review it.
- An email address for each project, client, and contact, with automations you describe in plain language that draft the change order an imported email asks for
- An assistant beside every screen, and an MCP server so Claude, ChatGPT, and Claude Code can work on the same records with each person's permissions
- Drawing reviews against your firm's checklists, with clients, agencies, and consultants reviewing by emailed link without a seat
- Phase invoices drafted from the contract, with retainage and a G703-style continuation sheet, synced with QuickBooks Online
- $29, $49, or $79 per seat per month, with every feature on every plan and a 14-day free trial
